Your silence on the atrocities occurring at Kamal Adwan Hospital, North Gaza, is extremely disturbing.
 
Kamal Adwan Hospital was the last semi-functioning hospital left in Northern Gaza and has now been attacked and destroyed by Israeli forces. Medical staff and patients have been tortured, forcibly evacuated and some have been killed.

Prior to this current attack, Kamal Adwan Hospital had a small intensive care unit, was providing care for hundreds of patients and providing shelter for repeatedly displaced people seeking refuge.

For three months now, Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the Kamal Adwan Hospital Director, has been warning us and urging us to take action to protect them against the Israeli Occupation Forces as the siege on the hospital began.

As his pleas were ignored, Israeli forces proceeded to attack the hospital and its surrounds. Aljazeera and Middle East Eye, along with Palestinian medics and journalists on the ground, have reported that Israeli forces sent robots that have detonated bombs in the vicinity of the hospital, the intensive care unit was lit on fire, the rest of the hospital has also been attacked, staff and patients were forces to strip and evacuate the hospital (refer to verified videos shared by Aljazeera) and that anyone who remained in the building has been potentially been killed by fire or died under the rubble as the remaining structures of the hospital were lit on fire. Palestinians who were forcefully displaced from the hospital have reported that staff and patients were beaten and humiliated by Israeli forces and that some have been taken to unknown locations. This morning, Israel has confirmed that they have illegally detained Dr Abu Safiya.

To date, none of your organisations have upheld your duty to report the horrors of this story. 
The ABC has downplayed the story by reporting that the “last functioning Gaza hospital [was] evacuated by IDF” without mentioning the horrific acts that have been committed by Israeli forces. The Australian has shared unverified claims from the IDF that Dr Abu Safiya is detained as he is a “suspected Hamas militant”. The Sydney Morning Herald has not even published a single story on this, focusing their attention on “antisemitism” in Australia instead.

Israel has repeatedly and systematically attacked hospitals, medical personnel and patients, all of whom are protected under International Humanitarian Law. They have repeatedly cited the unverified claim of Hamas using hospitals as bases as justification. This excuse cannot be accepted and must stop being reproduced in media stories. Regardless of evidence of that claim, that excuse can never justify the war crimes that have been committed.

This hospital attack is part of the broader attempt to ethnically cleanse Northern Gaza. Recently, Amnesty International, the United Nations and Human Rights Watch have found sufficient evidence to suggest that Israel is committing genocide and war crimes in Gaza. I urge you to read their respective reports.

Shame on you all - you have shown yourselves to be complicit in this genocide with your pro-Israeli biased reporting and in dehumanising and minimising the terror suffered by Palestinians under Israeli occupation.

I urge you to report on the story being shared by Palestinians on the ground in North Gaza, rather than unverified propaganda from Israel. As journalists, it is your job to investigate, verify and accurately report stories rather than regurgitate Israeli statements because you may have been instructed to do so. Australians demand and deserve to be accurately informed of world news. I look forward to reading your new reports on this urgent matter.
